Heather and Edward, very interested to read your log. We wish you fair winds and calm seas.
I can't wait to see the web site updates as they come. It's a great read and VERY funny!
Moira
Keep going in your quiet surroundings. We will soon meet with 2 excited junior children and a developing 8-9 month old!
Go Seatern!
Love McMeacham
What a brilliant website. Makes me feel I'm with you. Kind regards to you all, Ken Shaw
It all sounds great fun and for us left behind in wet & windy U.K.would actually swop places!!! Enjoy reading the web site & seeing the pictures although a bit dark on this computer. Lots of people are logging on and enjoying the adventure, quite a talking point in Sidlesham--- like what a fool or how exciting !!!!! Anne
Sounds great fun and I'm very jealous. Great web site.Hope you dont need Wilfred's help again. Bon voyage. Peter Jukes
Well done, very envious. Thanks for the website, John and Adrienne
May I congratulate you on your website. The sailing jargon is beyond me but the loss of red wine made me feel very sorry for you until I read on a little further! Won't powdered milk do the trick? Keep up the good work. Mary P
Great website. What about some photos of the culinary delights? I hear the chef is doing great things. Glad to hear the red wine situation has been resolved - essential for a good boeuf bourguignon.
Jerome (of Little Stoke)
Hello to all! Glad you are having a great time. Are you keeping a list of all your international radio pals? Don't worry about Catherine and the kiddies - all are well. In your absence, I'm slowly reeling C into my mosaic web and hope to have her compulsively nipping tiny glass squares in studio by your return --- another hobby turned obessive... Bye! Wishing you good winds - Julie
Obviously you are having a good time and managing to move forward without my help and expertise. Watching the website makes me quite jealous. Hope you continue to make good progress.
Tim Crawford
Hello Barry, How lovely to be in touch with you on your adventure. It all sounds wonderfullly exciting. It's a releif to hear that you know where you are, thanks to your celestial navigation team! Much looking forward to the next instalment .... We've got mother's day here - dead dull compared to what you are doing! I'll miss you at my 80th birthday party next week. Love, Tricia
Mummy says she'll trade our winds (ha) for your sun. We're all off (a trois) to see Shipping News tonight. We'll let you know where you are afterwards. Hopefully not Newfoundland. We've got white horses on the Thames. And a much happier grey one today too. For the next trip, Mummy says why not take a cow? We love your updates. Keep them coming because we're all logging on (FPR included). Lots of love K and H xx
Hola Luís and friends, kisses from Madrid.Mercedes.
I am green with envy. You all look and sound like you are having a blast!.
Matthew, we ran into Cathy and your kids and mother in law at Church this morning. THey are looking great.
We will continue to monitor your progress. All is good back home. We had a couple of chilly days, but Texas is rapidly going into spring time.
Thanks and continue to enjoy.
Un Abrazo, and again, thanks to your dad, we are already planning the details of our London trip.
Juan & Elena.
sam and jack think this looks cool
Hello and congratulations.Fantastic web site.
Good luck y Animos Val.
Hi everyone! Charlie and Tommy want to know in which minute you're going to arrive. Love Catherine
Good try, but I don't believe a word of it! I'm sure your're all just sitting around a bar in the Canaries and floating out every now and then to shoot a photo or two for all of us on dry land. You'll be flying out in due course to St.Lucia where Seatern's clone will be awaiting offshore to complete the journey for the benefit of the adoring press. Have a nice time, anyway, and continue to keep us under the illusion. Lots of love, Brenda
Dear Mathew and crew. We hope this experience will bring the best of you all as men, as fathers, as brothers, as sons. Remember that what you are now living will mark your soul forever. Hopefully you will learn about solitude, about friendship, about teamwork about challenge and most important about how to solve the simplest intricacies of every day life as simple human beings on earth.
We wish you the very best and are looking forward to celebrating your arrival back home.
Way to go

Hola Papi, soy Coral(Hello Dad,I am Coral): I like your travel " especialmente" when you were in the kitchen. In English class I learned past simple for irregular verbs.Good bye
Very envious after reading all your news having just had a weeks skiing, gales and blizards included. Best of luck.
Mike and Jenny.
It's great to see you living your dream. Have a blast! Jeff Smith
hi to all on the sea tern from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Winds light to moderate, work in London hard to stressful, JC as representative of English friends crap to worse at staying in touch, especially after fine Villandry lunch (needed reminder from Catherine of web address. V impressive website and log book - hope next part of passage goes well
James
testing from Pittsburgh - is this registering?

Dani y Marcel.la
This is great reading! We'll expect this level of entertainment value in all future comments made in business meetings, Matthew.
Should limit access from the Bain system, or we may have too many people disappearing for 23 days...
Liz Ramos
Luis and mates,
We are glad to see that there is still some people that know how to enjoy life!. José Ramón is in Liverpool and I am working like mad so we won't be connecting to this site for a few days (too envious to see you all).
Have a very good trip, capitan tan.
Irene & José Ramón
Well hello to all! Been meaning to post a note..but you know me! Anyway, really enjoying the notes and photos, and only wish I could be part of it all! How did I ever discard the idea! Anyway, I hope all keeps going as it is (for good, obviously!) and keep the log coming, please! All our love,
Mª José, Paul and Cristina...
Dear Barry and crew, Great to hear from you, glad you are having some decent weather, long may it last. Shall keep an eye on your progress, good luck. Pete Letch
Looks like you are having the trip of a lifetime. I really enjoy the commentary.
Good news on the Bain front: 4 of 7 Summer Associates have accepted so far!
-Christian Grammer
Hail Seatern! This is the best log of a transatlantic crossing I've ever read! Best 24 hour run, and average-to-date 24 hour run would be fun to know for the sailors following your progress. Also, best menu to-date. Have fun! Christopher.
looks like your having a hell of a lot of fun matthew, and living a great adventure... kudos..

Matthew,
Unable to determine who has the sexiest beard without the data. Photos please! We'll put it to a vote.
Moira and the gang in Dallas
Still can't believe it. Looks like the drycleaners in Hackberry Creek, minus the plastic bags. Who does the ironing? Never mind, hope you all smell sweet when you arrive. Barry is so domesticated it's frightening, but I'm sure everyone else can cope too. Lots of love, Brenda
Pretty impressive stuff. Though I'm not sure which is the most impressive: the nautical jargon and unshaven Nautica style good looks or the sitting around playing bridge and drinking wine in the middle of nowhere!
Keep up the good work. By the way, did you miss Cape Verde on purpose? Look after yourselves.
Chris A
Dear Matthew & Co, Superb web site! "Far from the clutches of Stephen Byers, there is one mode of transport that works...the Seatern" I mused as I got stuck on the underground last night. More photos please!!! Geoffrey
Bob, Not sure if I am in the right place for you to recieve this but having seen Mary last night felt it my duty to try. Can't believe what you guys are achieving, what an amazing experience. Very envious sitting in my dreary office! Keep up the amazing effort Alistair
Hello,
This is Jean-Pierre writing you from the Bain Munich office. Currently working on an automotive projekt in Austria (wish it were a boating projekt in the middle of the Atlantic!).
Your site is great. Put more pictures on it so we can keep on dreaming...
Good luck, Jean-Pierre
Barry Dad sends his best, and wishes he could be there with you. I on the other hand much prefer to watch from dry land!
Karen, Barry, Audrey
mmmm...not much writing regarding the cook. It looks as if the food is not up to the Los Mochis-La Paz trip standards.
Tell Luis that la brizca, el truco, el mus, el tute, el monte and la escoba are for gamblers. Whist/quick bridge is for fun. Bridge is the only serious card game for gentlemen and look forward to complete more 3NTs!
Matias
For someone who felt seasick in a calm sea off the island of Paxos in Greece, I am in total admiration of your journey. Mind you, Ouzo and sailing probably don't mix! It's wonderful to be able to share your journey with you from the safety of my computer screen and I will certainly be logging in again to watch your progress, which seems to be very good. Lots of love and luck to you all Louise and all the Peels (Kevin, Ayrton, Oliver and Elisa).
Enjoyed the log and the photos, May you have prevailing winds and calm seas. Looking forward to the Experience share when you return.
Watch out for the White Whale!
Cheers Mike Z.
Barry and Matthew, had supper with Hilly last night and wanted to pass on my best wishes to you both on your incredible journey. Proud of you for doing this. Hilly worries but then Hilly always worries And thank God for that. am back from America and in the UK for my new job. Very tough and miss the USA.
Your website is so cool, as they would say. I've given it to an American friend. She thinks the British are completely mad. I rest my case. nations separated by a common language et al ...
stay safe and keep in touch.

Dear All Can't imagine what it must be like not seeing land, a ship or anything for ten+ days. There is life after the Bakerloo line then. It is so great to read of your collective progress. What a team. I have no doubt everyone who visits this site is in awe of you all from both sides of the pond. Keep on going. And keep Luis (et al)on board! St Lucia beckons...Loads of love Hilary XX
Hey, not very Seatern related but just learned that GAP bonds are trading as junk....the wives are going to be worried, and i may have sparkled the birth of an non/sailing related chat site!
love, nicola
Matthew,
My first visit to check in on your trip - looks fabulous. I was struck by the high winds you cited the last day or so only because Los Angeles was also getting battered by high winds today - maybe out of sympathy. The pictures are great. I did see a phone in one of the pictures - I trust no voicemail by you. Trust you are enjoying the time completely. Best wishes for continued good sailing. Russ Hagey
Hi Matthew,
This seems very exciting. You should take opportunity to develop susi skills! Should be pretty abundant around there.
warm regards,
John Stanham
Ahoy mates! Sounds like it's all going well and no mutiny yet! See you soon.
Jay Grob
Mi hermano es un macho. Felipe Pereda
MNM - I'm totally enjoying your web site. It's nice and quiet in the Bain office - Panama Canal sounds like a good idea - why not keep going!? Just kidding - looking forward to hearing more details about your trip when you get back. Your secretary, Natalie
Hi to Brian and the rest of the crew from Liz and Derek Allen. Just to let you know all is well at No.6 and the mother's day basket was much appreciated. So too the excellent daily diary which we are all enjoying reading. Have a great rest of trip and safe onward voyage to St Lucia.
This is a fantastic website - I've been chuckling away and reading bits out to the office. In particular I loved the beard progress reports, gym antics and library feedback. Clearly you are all keeping both mind and body healthly despite the cramped conditions. Wishing you lots of luck and courage for the remainder of the trip. Sara (FPR)xx
Good luck Luis! from Richard Powers
Dear all,
1.- The website is great, it's a kind of "Big brother-Gran Hermano" with no cameras in toilettes and no love stories....known!!
2.- Trying to sum up your experiences, I remembered "The Warrior of Light" of Paulo Coelho.
"The man who keeps his friends is never dominated by the storms of existence; he is strong enough to overcome every difficulty and to keep going forward.
However he often feels defied by those to whom he tries to teach the art of the sword. His disciples provoke him into combat.
And the Warrior shows his skills: a couple strokes are enough to pull the weapons off his pupils' hands, and so harmony comes back.
- Why do you do this, if you are so much better than them?-asks a traveller (that's me!)
- Because when someone defies me, what he really wants is to talk with me; this way, I keep dialogue alive - answers the warrior (that's Matthew!)
So be patient, Seatern is small...
3.- Matthew, as a responsible father...when do we fix Alex up for his first date with Gabriela?
4.- Looking forward to seeing you in Menorca!
Big kisses all around,
Carmen, Alex, Santi and Jordi
Querido Luis,

Dear Gramps,
Amy's Christening was great fun. Sam and Jack liked the chocolate brownies best. Amy slept through all of the "post match" function. Hope all is well with you.
Love from Sam and Jack.
You all are really brave men. Congratulations!
Crazy --But typical of Barry ! Well done !
--Ted Farmer
Bob , We are all thoroughly enjoying the site and 'wish were there' - well at least I do.....much love from us all - Paul,S-G and girls
Besos: Cristina, Susana, Felipe y Jaime.
Dear Everyone Can't believe you should be arriving in five or six days' time. That bubbly's going to taste damn good. Hope the last few days don't seem like the longest -they will be for all of us on dry land who are willing you all to sail in safely. Good luck to you all. See you in St Lucia. And thank you for sharing your epic voyage with us as you've gone along. It has been fantastic...P.S. Daddy and Mattie, I love you LOTS. Hilary XX
Great to hear about the whale, pity you couldn't retrieve it somehow and preserve remains a la Moby Dick, perhaps we could hope for a Marlin skeleton instead nearer the warm Caribbean like the Old Man and the Sea, but if all fails a dessicated flying fish might do to prove you actually did all this.Tommy and Charlie would be most impressed. So glad you weren't attacked and trust a wonderful family reunion will take place on Saturday. Full of admiration for you all. Much love, Brenda
Dear all,
We need more photos of the fathers so the youngest children can continue to kiss the screen goodnight.
Love Catherine
Great to read your story and really impressed with your use of technology to relate it to all those interested. I am doing the ARC later this year after I sail the boat down to Las Palmas and picking up lots of tips from your journey - such as night watch is'nt so bad afer all as it is a good and natural time to get some sleep and do not overfill the wine glasses as it might result in wastage. Seriously, great story and thanks for making it available to a very wide audience. I look forward to the rest of your passage. Good luck and fair winds.Yours Bernard Clarke Golden Eye of Chichester.
Great progress. Glad the whale wasn't randy when he saw you. Maybe he saw Luis' beard..... That will have to go when you are back......!
Hope the beer doesn't run out
Simon Blaxland
To Luis: Cheers and all the best!
Joaquin Tamames
I think you're crazy!!! But the world needs a few more crazy people... or at least more of us should be crazy more often. Good luck and enjoy. (Now I really understand why you needed the break. This Office Head #$*% is for the birds!) Jorge
Dear Daddy, Happy Father's day I miss you very much, and I love you. xxoo hugs and kisses.CARLOTA.
Muchos besos Coral y Mercedes.
Luis & Crew: Great website, followed your trip with most excitement. Loved technical descriptions and sense of humor.
What, no ship's p***y!
Jerome (of Little Stoke)
Not long to go now...and how fabulous to see a whale. (I'd have been utterly terrified of course.) Just think of that LARGE sleep awaiting you all. May Seatern keep you all safe over the last few (hundred) miles. She's done beautifully so far. Counting the days...lots of love Hilary
Dear Barry & crew How very proud you must all be! It's wonderful to read your updates and follow the Seatern's progress, and only 2 or 3 days to go till you reach St Lucia. As I'm sure you can imagine, Hils is extremely excited about seeing you all! Keep safe for the final part of the journey and look forward to hearing that you've arrived safely. All the best, Rhian (Focus PR)
Hi - good to see you've made such good progress - time seems to have flown since we saw you in Tenerife. Trust you'll have enough supplies of red wine when the beer runs out! Cheers, Malcolm and Stephanie
Hey Bob Peters! We always thought you Brits would do anything for a good time! Enjoying your travel log--you need to drink more red wine! Hope you all know how to swim! Bob & Helen Hando
Congratulations everyone for this fantastic website.
Kisses. Maria, Carlos, Blanca y Uri
Ya te has graduado . Luis Puga
Bob and Crew, Note with interest your progress. Pilots surely cannot cook - they need 'tacevalling'! Mary sounded very cheerful and busy, no doubt looking foreward to your safe return as we are. Busy negotiating holiday home in Alcossebre 150 miles south Barcelona for family and friends. We are well and we have as much water on surface here as you have under you. Will check your progress before we leave for Spain next week. Our love to you. Yvonne and David.
1.- Some small risas en el barco for the good old boys: An old retired sailor puts on his old uniform and goes down to the docks once more for old times sake. He finds a little prostitute and goes up into the room with her, draping his sailor suit across the bed.
He's goin' at it as best he can for a guy his age and asks, "How am I doin'?" The prostitute says, "Well, sailor, you're doing about three knots."
"What's that?", he asks.
She says,"You're knot hard, you're knot in, and you're knot getting your money back."
2.- Matthew, if with the Churchill book you get a real sense of the essence of greatness in the British, and with Ayn Rand, you get a tremendous feel for what makes America great, what will you have to go to discover the essence of greatness in the Spaniards? Operación Triunfo? El Juli memoirs? Think about.
Ya queda poco. Disfrutadlo,
BB & Carmen
I'll help with the gin and tonic. Is anything else left? Are you in duck mode yet (the one where you're serene above water and paddling like hell underneath?) Keep on truckin'. I guess 'Thank God it's Friday' will take on a whole new meaning for you five. Not long to go now. I'm (almost) as excited as you must be. Loads of love Hilary
Great site - I feel a very entertaining book coming along soon - look forward to catching up soon - when your nav team finds St Lucia!
Greetings to all

¡Ánimo que falta poco!

Trish & Tim xx
So I guess it's true what the wise men say...."it really IS the journey, not the destination.." Bravo!
Teresa B
Congratulations to the Crew: the descriptions and graphics were thrilling and it really looks like you all had a great time: you even saw "land" finally! Look forward to "live" description when back in Spain Luis, rang Mercedes tonight but guess she´s on her way to greet you in St Lucia with some Daiquiris... Safe journey to you all, best regards, Marilena
Garry Fry, sorry I had to cut your call short the other day, I can't wait to hear the full story.
Best regards
Garry
Congratulations and welcome to dry land. Enjoy St Lucia Bob, I gather it is a beautiful place (I am storing up the brownie points for retail therapy!! See you at Gatwick on Friday, can't wait. Thanks to all the crew for such a wonderful diary of events and especially to the expert, Matthew. Wishing you all a very Happy Easter. Love Mary
Hi Seatern! Many, many congratulations on successfully concluding the crossing, and a special congrats to Barry for planning and executing such a major project. Have another beer for me! Christopher.
Congratulations; quite an achievement. Have really enjoyed following your progress.Thanks. Peter Jukes.
Congratulations to you all on achieving the dream, and thanks for letting us cruise alongside! We bet Barry can throw some light on the surprise appearance of first the extra red wine, and then the "unlimited" supplies of booze and tobacco at the crucial moments. Our toast this evening will be "the Crew of the Seatern". Cheers to you all. Malcolm and Stephanie.
You've done it. I'm full of admiration and relief (in equal measure). I can't wait to give you all a big congratulatory bear hug (especially in 82 degrees!) I'm sooo happy for you. Have you actually stepped onto dry land yet? lots of love Hilary (who sends an especially big kiss to the skipper) P.S. As the saying goes: "To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe". I think you have accomplished a great thing. P.P.S. Matt, I might even venture to try that 'Savage Sea' book (now).
Brillient, glad you arrived and enjoying life Carribian style - love the music that went with your report - you must have a dot-com walking planet on board! I await with great interest your final accounts. In the meantime all the very best of fortunes to the ships crew. Yours Bernard Clarke Golden Eye of Chichester.
Congratulations on a successful voyage. Many people were inspired by the adventure, impressed by your courage and stamina, and jubilant upon your arrival. Well done! A victory for all of us.
Chris Richey
